[Ben]:Digital camera - down and out Discuss This [4 comments so far] View Comments
For a while I've enjoyed my 5.0 megapixel, Argus DC3810 digital camera. It was reliable, took decent quality pictures and was cheap ($200 at a time when 5mp digital cameras could rarely be had for less than $350-$400). Unfortunately, recently it suffered some damage.

The cover that holds the batteries in was designed so that when it was closed, four small tabs would slide into four small slots and effectively lock it shut. At some point two of those tabs were broken clean off, and a few days ago a third broke to the point that the cover no longer holds the batteries to the contacts. No juice, no pictures.

The problem is mechanical and not electronic and I think I may be able to rig up an external catch to hold the cover in place. We'll have to see.
